Case·it strives to be a leader in tackling social and environmental projects related to important topics such as climate change & sustainability. Along with launching a new eCommerce presence by revamping our website and other Social Media, we are also announcing our Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification for our Kraft Board. The purpose of the SFI is to ensure that forestry practices are sustainable and will cause no harm to the ecosystem. What does this mean? As trees are felled, they are replaced with seedlings that eventually grow into mature trees. This is vital because sustainable forests have different species of trees of all ages.
Kraft Board is a huge part of the infrastructure of Case·it binders. Kraft Board, which is manufactured from natural wood pulp, is used as the foundation of our binders to increase sturdiness and resilience to impact and bending. We take pride in the fact that our Kraft Board is stronger than the industry standard of polyethylene (PE) board. PE board is made of a thin plastic and is prone to warping. To solve this issue, we created a method to be able to use Kraft Board in binders. It’s sturdy, yet malleable. This makes it the perfect material for customers who want a durable product that is also good for the Earth. The SFI certifies that the fiber we use comes from certified forest content, certified sourcing, as well as recycled content.
We have always taken pride in products that promote self-expression. We cannot think of a better way to express ourselves than to do our part to take care of our precious Earth. Being sustainable is not a fad that will come and go. We must all participate in planting seeds for a future. We are in this for the long haul, as change does not occur overnight. The transition will not be simple, but it is essential to persistently work towards that goal, step by step. This is just the beginning of our journey toward a greener Case·it.
